Door Chime FAQ's
A: This means that someone is using the same doorbell or similar equipment on the same frequency channel. To overcome this problem you need to change the frequency channel that your Door Chime and Bell Push operates on:
SX: remove the battery from the bell push and press to make sure the chime does not ring (repeat if needed). Remove the power from the chime unit and wait 1min, add the power and you will hear a bleep bleep, now press the bell push.
BY100: remove the power from the chime i.e. unplug unit or remove batteries and wait 1min, replace the power and you will hear a bleep bleep, now press the bell push twice (single push) or once if you have a front and back door bell push.
BY2** & 3**: press and hold the volume key until it bleeps twice, then release and press and hold until you hear a single bleep. This has now reset the door chime. To relearn the bell push to the chime press and hold the Vol key until you hear a bleep bleep, then press the bell push
Q. The battery is stated in the instructions as for test purposes only, what does this mean?
A: Because the batteries are included at the packaging stage, we cannot guarantee the storage conditions which effect the life span of the battery. This usually results in a intermittent effect on the chimes operation. (For further advice please email the customer support team email@example.com)
Q. My wire free doorbell has just started to work occasionally, then it starts working again but only for a short period of time. Is my unit faulty?
A: This could be due to a worn out battery, try replacing the batteries within the units.

Q: My plug in door chime doesn’t work when I plug them into certain sockets but does in others, why is this?
A: this usually occurs due to the position of the mains socket, try using a different socket as items located near by may be reducing the operating range.
Q: What’s the maximum length of bell wire I can use to connect my Byron transformer to the door chime?
A: The maximum distance of bell wire that we recommend from a 1Amp transformer is 15 meters as this covers the majority of domestic users, but this is only a guideline as the type of wire can effects this. As a general rule you should keep the length of bell wire to a minimum. When the distance is too great the chime performance may be jeopardised. Upgrading the transformer to a slightly higher voltage e.g. 12V will increase the distance. Before upgrading your transformer make sure that your chime is compatible with a 12V transformer.
Q: What is the loudest door chime that Byron produce as I cannot generally hear the door being rung?
A: The door chimes vary in loudness (70-90+dB),
Byron produce an extra loud chime with an LED flash alert product code BY301. If you currently own a wire free door chime you can add further chimes to the same bell push, allowing you to place a second chime in another location i.e. the kitchen. Excludes the Byron DB product range
Q: How do I alter the sound my chime?
A: If you know the type of chime you own, you can access the instructions for altering the sound of the chime on our website.
For the majority of our products the melody is selected using the button inside the bell push or on the front of the chime.
Q: What’s the difference between the SX, BY and DB range and what’s the compatibility between the different models.
A: The SX, BY and DB use different transmitters and receivers, this is why they have different ranges of operation. This means that SX units are only compatible with other SX products etc.
Q: How do I make my door chime louder?
If you have a wired door chime you unfortunately cannot alter the loudness, a second chime can be added to the system
If you have a wire free chime, make sure the volume is set to maximum (see instructions included in the packaging) or you can add a second chime to ring at the same time. SX & BY product ranges only.
Q: The batteries on my bell push run out very quickly, is my bell push defective or not?
A: The batteries in your bell push and the chime unit should last approximately one year for the chime and 2 years for the bell push (of normal use). A number of different conditions can reduce the battery life e.g. very low temperatures.
When the batteries are becoming low, the wire free range of the chime will be reduced, try replacing the batteries or email the customer support team of further advice
Q: Why can’t I mount my wire free bell push onto a UPVC door?
A: Certain types of UPVC doorframes contain a internal metal frame and this can stop the chime working. Before permanently installing the bell push, test the location by holding the bell push in place with Blue Tac or masking tape.
